Tell / told / told
This verb is often used in reported speech.
“Tell” can be used to report that someone gave information to another person. Note: “that” is optional.
He told me (that) he was hungry
“Tell” can also be used to report that someone gave an instruction or an order to someone. Note: “to” is required. For negative, use “not to”.
He told me to go away
He not me not to sit there
